Spectrasite to be the target of an acquisition?
Spectrasite (SITE)- a national cell tower company- is the subject of a number of rumors including the AAT rumor posted earlier and a current one that has Crown Castle (CCI) purchasing Spectrasite. Crown, flush from selling European assets, should have the capital to conclude this deal. However, if SITE purchased AAT, would Crown still be able to stomach the acquisition?

Heard any rumors about SpectraSite and American Tower?
I have heard nothing regarding ATC and SITE. Not sure how that would work either. They both have a decent concentration in urban areas- and I have not heard anything about ATC being in the acquisiition mode.
I suspect that there will be some type of acquisition announcement at CTIA.
Just caught wind of a fresh view on a possible take over of SCI. I have heard some talk of Global Signal wanting to double their tower count and managed rooftop sites. Some possible hinting that SCI would more than help them acheive their goals. Have you heard anything along this front yet?
I checked with a few good sources- and no one would confirm or deny this. No one had any knowledge of this though.
Also have heard that Crown has been back at SCI corporate trying to get another deal to purchase going.
Got a comment again, something might be a happening soon with SCI, maybe Crown or Global to take over SCI. Crown seems to make the better fit, but Global has been gearing up for more aquistition.
The rumors have been persistant that SCI will be acquired. I have heard of a backwards merger with AAT- but there is not confirmation of that.
I would also tend to agree with you that SCI/Global would seem more likely just because of Global's obvious hunger for product lately.
Not sure Crown has the desire to bid competitively against Global.
So what is your take on the American tower SCI "merger"?
